Call for Bids 2025 Digital Events

In 2025, the Board of Events for the Society for the History of the Humanities are looking to host a limited number of digital events. These events are part of the overall ambition of the Society to reach new audiences and help facilitate engagement with the field of history of the humanities.

We welcome proposals for author workshops, seminar-style discussion groups, and meetings with or without paper sessions. Events may be purely digital or hybrid; they should be open to all who are interested and free of charge. We encourage proposals that take advantage of the digital format and have a broad appeal for scholars in the history of the humanities. The structure and overall planning of the event is up to the organizers, but the Board of Events will provide support and feedback and will communicate the event in order to reach a larger audience.

In order to submit a bid for a 2025 digital event, contact Isak Hammar, chair of the Board of Events at isak.hammar@hist.lu.se. The call has an open deadline but proposals should be made well in advance.

The proposal (max 400 words) should include:

  • Description of the purpose and topic of the event
  • Intended audience and outcomes
  • Relevance for the field of the history of the humanities
  • Preliminary participants (if applicable)
  • Duration and suggestions of date(s)
  • A presentation of the digital format
  • Mini-bios of the organizers

The Bids will be reviewed by the Board of Events on basis of scholarly quality and relevance.
